One day they turned up at the offices of the Teatre la Unió theatre with a smile stretching from ear to ear, an affable manner and a gentle cordiality. Straight away we struck a deal for them to take up residency in our theatre and the days went calmly by. It was always a pleasure to meet up with them to have lunch or to sit and have a coffee outside or simply have a five minute chat. It is moments like that and their performance that give our work meaning. Their stage wisdom, forged through years and years of touring the world, the innate talent of each member of the company, the spot-on timing in their acts and the empathy they are able to create with the audience … through all this they sometimes end up reducing crowds to fits of laughter by not doing anything – and that takes a lot of wisdom, it is very tough to achieve - and simply triggering waves of belly laughter, the kind that leaves you with weeping eyes and an aching stomach. On the 9th of May, after the performance and a wonderful champagne-soaked evening, the curtain fell, and they and their belongings left for new horizons. I am sure they know that our theatre has become their home, and our door is always open to them.
