Music as a vehicle for laughter.- 18/01/2006.

Théâtre des Nouveautés.
La Dépèche du Midi

The clowns from Los Excéntricos were a real success at the Nouveautés theatre with their madcap performance. What would a comedy festival be without clowns like those seen in Musica maestro? Something would certainly be missing. A mix of circus and street theatre, the Los Excéntricos company have that touch of craziness, which is so right for this kind of show. These three truly live up to their name, through the staging itself, as the audience end up being sprinkled with an umbrella, get saliva all over them and have wet socks land on their heads, and through the wardrobe (you just have to see the soloist\'s look). Sylvestre, Zaza and Marcelline turned the Nouveautés theatre upside down. The enraptured audience laughed every second, at the least gag by these jolly fellows. Magic tricks that degenerate into an opera performed by puppets, poems that end in frying pan battles, and even a three-legged tango dancer. They are bunch of clowns, real clowns. They are also exceptional musicians. The accordion, the musical saw, the ukulele and even the double bass mop. They can do everything; and play everything too, making the audience break into laughter with “show me the way to the next whisky bar” by the Doors, and the intense emotion of Edith Piaf played on the musical saw. The audience were in seventh heaven, they clapped and clapped these modern clowns who truly touched their lives.
