The previous show had overrun by tens of minutes. The divine prospect of eating something other than a sweaty sandwich was vanishing off the schedule. I was not in the mood to laugh. Grrrrr! But laugh I did. I could not help myself. Nor could he other folk. We all laughed out loud. To get that kind of uninhibited response argues quality clowning. Rhapsodia is. This trio from Spain have a sure understanding of the incongruous, the eccentric and the plain daft. An operatic diva has her feathers ruffled by a vacuum cleaner. A dolorous folk singer makes a cake of himself when he bows. Anything that smacks of pomposity including Spanish culture!- is gently spoofed. This is affable slapstick, strong on visual and musical gags that easily skit the language barrier.
